Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls with accuracy and empathy
- Dispatch police officers using CAD systems and radio communication protocols
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and communications
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency responses
- Operate specialized communication equipment and software efficiently
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to callers
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and procedural guidelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid New Mexico driver's license
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Windows OS
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends/holidays
- Clear speaking voice and excellent active listening skills
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
