Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio equipment, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to first responders and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations, including life-threatening emergencies
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate caller situations
- Adhere to all federal, state, and departmental protocols and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred)
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to convey information clearly under pressure
- Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No history of domestic violence or restraining orders
