The City of Riverside is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Police Department as Police Dispatcher Trainees. Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, accurately gathering and relaying critical information to law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel.
- Unit Dispatch: Dispatch emergency and non-emergency units to incidents using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and emergency medical services based on incident priority and location.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed logs of all calls, dispatches, and activities for departmental records and legal compliance.
- Information Dissemination: Provide information to the public, other agencies, and court personnel regarding case status and police activities.
- Crisis Management: Assist in managing critical incidents, including high-pressure situations requiring split-second decision-making.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- License: Valid California Class C Driver's License required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio.
- Availability: Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Background: Must pass a thorough background investigation, medical exam, and drug screen.
