Responsibilities
- Monitor and receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement units and support personnel to incident locations with precision and speed.
- Accurately record and maintain incident reports and data in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide essential information and assistance to callers, victims, and field officers.
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during complex emergency situations.
- Participate in structured on-the-job training to develop essential dispatching skills and protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Basic typing proficiency (30+ wpm) with the ability to be tested.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Must be willing to submit to a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, and medical exam.
