Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communications
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and mapping systems
- Adhere to NYS criminal justice protocols and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid NYS driver's license (at time of appointment)
- Pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified assessment required)
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure emergency situations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Fluent English with clear verbal communication skills
- US citizenship or permanent resident status
