Responsibilities
- Monitor and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls via radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems.
- Enter and update detailed incident reports and information into the CAD system in real-time.
- Provide critical information, instructions, and emotional support to callers during crisis situations.
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications, activities, and resource status.
- Coordinate with patrol units, fire services, and EMS to ensure efficient resource allocation and response times.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel and maintain knowledge of current law enforcement procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Proficiency in typing (minimum 35 WPM) and computer navigation (Windows OS).
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph exam, and drug screen.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
