Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Dispatch police units efficiently using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and communications
- Coordinate with other emergency services (EMS, Fire) during multi-agency responses
- Operate radio equipment and maintain communication protocols
- Perform data entry and manage information in law enforcement databases
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (no experience required)
- Ability to remain calm and think clearly under pressure
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new technology
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Valid Alaska driver's license or ability to obtain upon hire
