Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently, gathering essential information to assess the situation.
- Unit Dispatch: Rapidly and accurately dispatch police, fire, and medical units to locations based on real-time information and standard operating procedures.
- CAD Management: Maintain accurate records in the Computer-Aided Dispatch system, including call details, unit locations, and status updates throughout the incident lifecycle.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and interagency task forces during major incidents.
- Information Dissemination: Provide accurate information to callers, including location details and instructions while waiting for first responders to arrive.
- Escalation Management: Monitor calls for service, detect officer safety issues, and manage radio traffic to ensure clear communication channels.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Legal Status: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to remain calm and professional under extreme pressure.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy; experience with dispatch or radio systems is highly preferred.
