Responsibilities
- Emergency Response Coordination: Monitor police and fire department radio frequencies to receive and process emergency calls, dispatching units to the scene efficiently and accurately.
- Information Management: Gather and relay critical information to field officers, including suspect descriptions, vehicle details, and incident locations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all incoming calls, dispatched units, and incident reports using departmental computer systems.
- Community Liaison: Provide clear, calm, and empathetic guidance to callers in distress, ensuring they remain safe until help arrives.
- Unit Support: Coordinate with other dispatch centers, fire departments, and emergency medical services to ensure seamless communication during large-scale events or disasters.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Driver's License: A valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license is mandatory.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly under pressure.
- Stress Tolerance: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and remain composed in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Criminal History: No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
