Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service via telephone and radio; prioritize calls based on urgency and life-threatening nature.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incidents using standard radio codes and procedures.
- Monitor multiple radio frequencies and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems simultaneously to ensure situational awareness.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls, units dispatched, and incident outcomes.
- Provide vital information and support to field officers to ensure officer safety and efficient incident resolution.
- Perform data entry tasks related to warrants, criminal records, and vehicle registrations.
- Handle high-stress situations with composure, empathy, and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Communications is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and maintain focus during long shifts.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor charges on record (background check required).
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills (40 WPM preferred).
