Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel to active incidents utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide real-time information and instructions to field units, including location details, suspect descriptions, and medical status.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date incident logs and records in accordance with departmental standards.
- Communicate effectively with the public, officers, and other agencies during high-stress situations.
- Monitor radio frequencies and automated equipment for alerts, status updates, and resource availability.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute (assessments may be required during the interview process).
- Proficiency with computers, data entry systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and night shifts as required.
