Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service via telephone and radio.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) units to incidents.
- Accurately enter and maintain records in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide critical information to field personnel, including traffic directions and unit status.
- Monitor security cameras and automated systems for safety alerts.
- Perform administrative duties, including filing and data entry.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and mentoring staff.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Valid New Mexico driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
