Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units and resources
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel
- Utilize radio communication systems following established protocols
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Assist with data entry and record-keeping duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph examination
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and computer literacy
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
- Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and judgment
