Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process emergency 911 and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) units to incidents.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date records of all calls, logs, and incidents in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide critical, real-time information to field units to ensure officer and citizen safety.
- Monitor radio frequencies for unit status, availability, and patrol activities.
- Handle high-volume phone lines with professionalism, empathy, and clarity.
- Assist the public with directions, community inquiries, and non-emergency requests.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills (30-40 WPM preferred).
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and focused under extreme pressure.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
