Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls via phone and radio, gathering critical information to dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units.
- Monitor Systems: Maintain constant vigilance over multiple computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio frequencies to track unit status and emergencies.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter incident reports, citations, and field interview cards into departmental databases within strict time limits.
- Communication: Maintain clear, professional, and calm communication with officers in the field, citizens in distress, and other emergency services personnel.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the response of emergency vehicles and personnel based on the severity and nature of the incident.
- Documentation: Ensure all logs and records are maintained in compliance with departmental policies and legal standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call center operations, or public safety is highly preferred but not required for the Trainee role.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Driver’s License: A valid California Driver’s License is required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Skills: Strong typing skills (minimum 35 wpm) and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Background: No felony convictions. Must pass a thorough background investigation, psychological evaluation, and medical examination.
