Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer 911 and non-emergency calls, gather critical incident details, and accurately assess the nature and location of emergencies.
- Unit Dispatch: Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to the correct locations with the appropriate information to ensure rapid response times.
- Radio Communication: Maintain clear, concise, and professional radio contact with field units, providing updates and instructions as needed.
- CAD Management: Input incident data into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and update the status of ongoing situations in real-time.
- Information Dissemination: Provide the public with accurate information regarding police presence, road closures, and emergency procedures.
- Crisis Support: Offer emotional support and instructions to callers during high-stress situations until help arrives.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Residency: Must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- License: Valid Pennsylvania Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.
- Typing: Ability to type at least 35 words per minute (speed will be tested during the hiring process).
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including fingerprinting and drug screening.
- Health: Must pass a medical examination and psychological evaluation.
- Availability: Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
