Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency (911) and non-emergency lines with accuracy and composure, gathering essential information for response units.
- Dispatch Units: Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and medical resources efficiently.
- Maintain Communications: Monitor police radio frequencies and departmental data channels to stay updated on officer status and incident details.
- Record Keeping: Accurately log incident reports, warrants, and status updates into the departmental database.
- Public Relations: Provide clear, calm, and professional information to the public, citizens, and other agencies during high-stress situations.
- Training Compliance: Complete all required departmental training, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or Communications is a plus.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Driver's License: Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License required; must be insurable under the City's policy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly over a radio system.
- Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in emergency situations.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software systems quickly.
