Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units, fire, and EMS resources using CAD/RMS systems
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Maintain accurate records of all communications in compliance with state regulations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Monitor radio traffic and maintain situational awareness during active operations
- Assist with training new dispatchers and updating department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship and valid Kentucky driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Proficiency with computer systems and multitasking in high-stress environments
- Exceptional communication skills with clear, calm diction
- Ability to obtain APCO/NENA certifications within 12 months
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
