Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police, fire, and medical units
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) software
- Maintain detailed records of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to responding officers and other emergency personnel
- Monitor multiple radio channels simultaneously while maintaining situational awareness
- Utilize emergency management protocols during critical incidents
- Coordinate with neighboring agencies during mutual aid situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass criminal background check and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- Exceptional communication and de-escalation skills
- U.S. citizenship and residency in Erie County or surrounding areas
