Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned beats and neighborhoods to prevent crime and maintain order.
- Respond to emergency calls, investigate incidents, and take appropriate action to ensure public safety.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation regarding arrests, crimes, and incidents.
- Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects to gather information and evidence.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
- Assist in community relations programs to foster trust and cooperation with the public.
- Use firearms and defensive tactics safely and effectively when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident status is required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
- Valid Louisiana Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical exam, and psychological evaluation.
- No felony convictions or dishonorable military discharges.
- Physical fitness sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
