Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communication plans for city initiatives and public services
- Manage media relations, press releases, and press conferences
- Create compelling content across digital platforms (social media, web, newsletters)
- Coordinate crisis communication protocols and stakeholder briefings
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust messaging strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with city departments to align communications with policy goals
- Track and report on KPIs for public engagement campaigns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field
- 3+ years government/public sector communications experience
- Proven crisis management and media relations expertise
- Advanced proficiency in CMS, social media analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Experience with public records requests and compliance protocols
