Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies for city initiatives
- Manage media relations and serve as primary spokesperson for assigned departments
- Create compelling content including press releases, social media posts, and official communications
- Coordinate crisis communication protocols and emergency response messaging
- Organize press conferences, community forums, and stakeholder engagement events
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust communication strategies accordingly
- Maintain digital communications platforms and ensure compliance with accessibility standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 3+ years of professional public relations or communications experience
- Proven track record in government/public sector communications preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with bilingual English/Spanish fluency
- Proficiency in digital media tools, CMS platforms, and analytics software
- Strong crisis management and media training experience
- Valid Florida driver's license and ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
