Responsibilities
- Coordinate emergency response operations during public health crises (natural disasters, pandemics, outbreaks)
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans for Houston metropolitan area
- Liaise with federal/state/local agencies including FEMA and Harris County Public Health
- Deploy rapid assessment teams and manage emergency supply chains
- Conduct public risk communication and community education campaigns
- Track health metrics and prepare situation reports for decision-makers
- Train public health staff on emergency response protocols and drills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in public health emergency response or disaster management
- FEMA certifications (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800)
- Strong knowledge of NIMS/ICS frameworks and Texas Emergency Management plans
- Experience with emergency communication systems (e.g., WebEOC, AlertHouston)
- Ability to obtain security clearance for sensitive public health data
- Valid Texas driver's license with reliable transportation for field deployment
