The City of Health Department seeks a dynamic Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator to lead critical initiatives in disaster preparedness, disease outbreak management, and community resilience. Responsibilities
- Lead city-wide emergency response activations during natural disasters, pandemics, and bioterrorism events
- Coordinate with FEMA, CDC, Harris County Public Health, and 50+ community partners
- Develop and execute mass vaccination/distribution plans for 10,000+ daily operations
- Manage real-time situational awareness dashboards and crisis communication protocols
- Train 200+ emergency response personnel in ICS/NIMS compliance
- Write FEMA grant proposals securing $5M+ annual funding
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement improvement strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Public Health, Emergency Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years crisis response experience with government or NGO
- Active FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification
- Expertise in HSEEP and NIMS frameworks
- Spanish fluency required (Houston's 44% Hispanic population)
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work 24/7 rotations during declared emergencies
- Proficiency in ESRI GIS and emergency management software
