Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food service establishments, childcare centers, and public pools
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks
- Enforce county health ordinances and state regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and violation notices
- Provide public education on health and sanitation practices
- Collaborate with epidemiology team during health emergencies
- Maintain accurate digital records and databases
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years food safety or environmental health experience
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and FDA Food Code
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license
- Proficiency in GIS and database management software
