Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks
- Enforce state health codes and issue correction notices
- Provide education to businesses and community members on health regulations
- Collect and analyze samples for laboratory testing
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with local health departments and law enforcement agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- California Public Health Inspector certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Minimum 2 years experience in health code enforcement
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Codes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
