Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and complaint-based inspections of food service establishments, childcare centers, and public pools
- Investigate potential health hazards and issue corrective notices
- Collect environmental samples for laboratory testing
- Provide technical assistance to business owners on health code compliance
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain digital records
- Testify as expert witness in regulatory hearings
- Participate in emergency response activities during public health crises
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Biology, or related field
- Texas Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of field inspection experience
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and TDSHS regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
