Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory compliance
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Educate business owners on health safety standards and best practices
- Collaborate with epidemiologists during disease outbreak investigations
- Test environmental samples for potential health hazards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Tennessee Public Health Inspector certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Minimum 2 years experience in regulatory compliance or environmental health
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
