Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, public pools, childcare facilities, and other regulated premises
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Develop and deliver educational programs for business owners and community members on health best practices
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation of findings
- Collaborate with epidemiologists and emergency response teams during public health incidents
- Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote health awareness and disease prevention
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Biology, or related field
- Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Sanitarian Registration required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental health or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety standards, and public health codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex regulations
- Texas Class C driver's license and reliable transportation
- Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred
