Responsibilities
- Research and analyze public health data to inform policy recommendations for Detroit's diverse communities
- Develop comprehensive health equity frameworks addressing racial disparities and social determinants
- Coordinate inter-agency initiatives on emergency preparedness and pandemic response
- Lead stakeholder engagement sessions with community organizations, healthcare providers, and elected officials
- Prepare detailed policy briefs and legislative testimony for city council hearings
- Monitor implementation of public health initiatives and measure impact through KPI tracking
- Secure and manage federal/state grant funding for health equity projects
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or related field (PhD preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in government health policy or urban public health initiatives
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (SPSS, R, Tableau) and health informatics
- Deep understanding of CDC/PHL guidelines and Michigan public health regulations
- Proven track record of securing federal/state health grants ($500K+)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with policy drafting experience
- Knowledge of Detroit's health landscape and community dynamics
- Valid Michigan driver's license and ability to travel to community sites
