Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery, including road graders, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes, to maintain and repair city streets, alleys, and rights-of-way.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Inspect work areas for safety hazards and ensure all operations adhere to federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Apply asphalt, concrete, and gravel to repair potholes and road surfaces according to City specifications.
- Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and project timelines efficiently.
- Clear snow, ice, and debris from city streets during inclement weather conditions.
- Document work performed and report equipment malfunctions or material shortages immediately.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating heavy construction or municipal equipment.
- Ability to pass a physical ability test and a background check.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and maintenance procedures.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
