Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects for compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Review engineering plans and specifications before project commencement
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and community stakeholders
- Issue permits and ensure timely resolution of compliance issues
- Assist in emergency response during infrastructure failures
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
- 3+ years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification
- Strong knowledge of Michigan Building Code and ADA standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
