Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with plans and specifications
- Review and approve engineering drawings, permits, and development plans
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works infrastructure
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Enforce municipal codes, ordinances, and safety regulations
- Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with specialized training in construction inspection
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public works or construction inspection
- Valid California Class C Driver's License
- ICBO certification or equivalent preferred
- Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency with inspection software and GIS systems
