Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects for compliance with approved plans and regulations
- Review engineering plans, permits, and contractor documentation for accuracy
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports with photographic evidence
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction activities and public infrastructure
- Assist in developing inspection protocols and training materials for staff
- Participate in emergency response for infrastructure failures during off-hours
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 3+ years of construction inspection or project management experience
- Valid California Driver's License and ability to traverse construction sites
- Certification from International Code Council (ICC) preferred
- Proficiency with CAD software and digital inspection tools
- Strong knowledge of California Building Codes and ADA requirements
- Excellent written communication skills for report writing
- Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions
