Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction sites to verify compliance with city codes and project plans
- Review engineering plans and specifications for accuracy and regulatory alignment
- Document findings in detailed reports and maintain accurate inspection records
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city staff to resolve compliance issues
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works projects
- Prepare violation notices and enforcement recommendations as needed
- Assist in emergency response for public works infrastructure issues
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience
- Valid California Inspector Certification (CIT, CIH, or equivalent)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and field inspection software
- Strong knowledge of California building codes and municipal regulations
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
