Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, graders, loaders) for construction and maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and drainage system repairs
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, bridges)
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance standards
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate project documentation and equipment logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on urban development initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
