Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with city codes, plans, and safety regulations
- Review contractor documentation and approve payment requests based on verified progress
- Investigate citizen complaints and resolve construction-related issues within 48 hours
- Generate detailed inspection reports using GIS mapping software and digital platforms
- Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve design discrepancies in real-time
- Train junior inspectors on regulatory requirements and best practices
- Prepare testimony for code violation hearings and legal proceedings when necessary
Qualifications
- Texas Class B Water/Wastewater Operator License or equivalent state certification
- Minimum 3 years' experience in municipal construction inspection or civil engineering
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Cityworks asset management software
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- Spanish bilingual certification strongly preferred
