Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of public infrastructure projects including roads, drainage systems, and sidewalks
- Verify compliance with city codes, plans, specifications, and safety regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Coordinate with contractors to resolve code violations and construction issues
- Assist in plan reviews for new development and renovation projects
- Provide technical guidance to the public regarding construction permits and requirements
- Testify in administrative hearings regarding code enforcement matters
- Participate in departmental training and professional development activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with five years of construction inspection experience
- Valid California Inspector certification (ICBO, ICC, or equivalent)
- Thorough knowledge of California Building Codes and municipal regulations
- Proficiency with inspection software and field documentation tools
- Ability to interpret construction plans and technical specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
