Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works construction projects (roads, drainage, utilities)
- Verify compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Investigate citizen complaints and resolve field issues
- Maintain inspection records and project documentation
- Assist in stormwater management program compliance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in engineering technology preferred
- Minimum 3 years construction inspection or related field experience
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- ICPI/ACI certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction codes
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and lift 50 lbs
- U.S. citizenship required for government position
