Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites and infrastructure projects for compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Review engineering plans and blueprints for accuracy and feasibility
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve issues
- Conduct field investigations for public works complaints
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and project documentation
- Provide technical guidance to construction crews and developers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in construction technology or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong knowledge of local building codes and construction standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Proficiency with inspection software and Microsoft Office Suite
