The City of San Jose's Public Works Department seeks an experienced Public Works Inspector to join our critical infrastructure team. Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of public works projects including roads, drainage systems, and utilities
- Review construction plans and specifications for technical compliance
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Enforce safety protocols and mitigate construction risks
- Manage project documentation and permit compliance
- Respond to citizen inquiries and project-related concerns
Qualifications
- Valid California Civil Service Engineer/Technician certification
- Minimum 3 years construction inspection experience
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Knowledge of California Building Codes and Title 24
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
- Valid California Class C driver's license
