Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of municipal construction projects (roads, utilities, bridges)
- Verify compliance with engineering plans, safety protocols, and city codes
- Document findings using digital reporting tools and maintain inspection records
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve issues
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to federal/state environmental and safety regulations
- Assist in emergency response for public works infrastructure failures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in construction inspection preferred
- 2+ years of construction inspection or related field experience
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency with inspection software (e.g., Cityworks, GIS mapping tools)
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure standards and materials
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse construction sites
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and stakeholder coordination
