Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and detailed inspections of public construction sites, roads, bridges, and water systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
- Review construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to verify technical accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Issue necessary citations, stop-work orders, and permits for any violations or safety hazards identified during inspections.
- Document all inspection findings accurately and maintain a detailed log of project status and compliance reports.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and municipal staff to resolve compliance issues and clarify project details.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of county construction standards and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associateâs degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or a related technical field.
- Valid Tennessee Class D Driverâs License with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn industry-specific software (e.g., CAD, GIS) quickly.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Physical ability to perform site inspections, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs in various weather conditions.
