Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and material handling for public infrastructure projects
- Operate and maintain light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, saws, compactors) under supervision
- Assist in road maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and park facility improvements
- Ensure work areas comply with OSHA safety standards and city protocols
- Load/unload construction materials and equipment safely
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures
- Experience with heavy machinery operation preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends for emergency response
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Strong teamwork ethic and ability to follow precise instructions
