Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders)
- Perform manual labor for road construction, drainage systems, and park maintenance
- Adhere to strict OSHA safety protocols while using city-issued equipment
- Assist in emergency response during weather-related events (floods, hurricanes)
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public infrastructure projects
- Maintain clean and organized job sites per city standards
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana driver's license (Class B preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of construction safety procedures
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Ability to operate hand tools and power machinery
- Resident of East Baton Rouge Parish preferred
