As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a vital role in keeping Madison running smoothly. We offer a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment including dump trucks, loaders, and mowers.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months.
- Inspect and repair street signs, traffic signals, and public fixtures.
- Perform landscaping and park maintenance duties as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and city policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public regarding ongoing projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Driverβs License with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction or landscaping tools and equipment is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening.
