Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) safely and efficiently
- Assist in park beautification projects and green space maintenance
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and document findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on emergency response initiatives
- Adhere to OSHA standards and city safety protocols
- Support recycling and waste reduction programs across city facilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Experience with hand/power tools and construction equipment preferred
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and site safety
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and flexible schedule
