Job Overview:
As a Public Works Laborer, you will support various municipal operations, including street maintenance, drainage cleaning, and snow removal. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions and collaborate with a team of skilled professionals to ensure our city runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, hauling, and cleaning construction sites and streets.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy-duty construction equipment and hand tools.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of public infrastructure, including sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
- Control traffic flow using signs, cones, and flags during road work projects.
- Clear debris, snow, and ice from public walkways and roadways during adverse weather.
- Inspect work sites for safety hazards and report any issues to supervisors.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Familiarity with basic construction tools and safety protocols.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Pass a drug screen and background check.
