Responsibilities
- Operate city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including trenching, pipe laying, and asphalt repair
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and city maintenance standards
- Assist in emergency response during weather-related infrastructure events
- Collaborate with cross-functional crews on large-scale public works initiatives
- Document work progress and material usage using digital reporting tools
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class B CDL license preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy construction equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in extreme weather
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems (water, sewer, roads)
- Must reside within 50 miles of Albuquerque
