Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment for street maintenance and construction projects
- Perform routine inspections and repairs of public infrastructure including sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems
- Assist in park maintenance activities including landscaping, irrigation, and facility upkeep
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations during all operations
- Document work activities and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project timelines and resource allocation
- Respond to emergency public works situations as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in civil engineering or construction preferred
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal maintenance
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., backhoe, dump truck) highly desirable
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to public safety standards
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping systems and municipal infrastructure blueprints
